Privacy Policy

Stubwise helps hourly workers check that a paycheck matches the hours they worked, and backs that information up to your account so it survives a lost or replaced phone. This page explains exactly what that means.

Effective September 16, 2026 Applies to the Stubwise mobile app Contact contact@stubwise.app Published by O Gravata Consulting LLC

01

Overview

Stubwise ("Stubwise," "the app," "we," "us") checks whether your paycheck matches the hours you actually worked. To do that reliably across the life of your phone — including a lost phone, a broken screen, or simply upgrading to a new one — Stubwise asks you to create an account, and backs up your pay data to a server we operate under that account.

This policy describes exactly what we collect, where it's stored, who can see it (nobody but you and, where the law requires, us as the operator of the server), and how to delete it permanently whenever you want.

02

Information we collect

Creating a Stubwise account requires an email address and a password. We never see or store your actual password — it's run through a one-way cryptographic hash (bcrypt) before it ever reaches our database, so even we can't read it back.

Once you're signed in, the app also backs up the same pay information you enter into it either way:

  • Your hourly pay rate (and, if it's changed over time, the dates each rate applied)
  • The jurisdiction whose overtime and minimum-wage rules you want applied
  • The shifts you clock in and out of, or enter manually
  • Your usual weekly schedule, if you set one up for reminders
  • The paycheck amounts you choose to check against what the app calculated

That's the complete list. We don't ask for your name, a phone number, a photo, or any information beyond what's needed to run the calculations you asked for and back them up to your account.

03

Where your data lives

Your pay data lives in two places at once, by design: a working copy stays on your phone's local app storage so the app is fast and works offline, and a backup copy is stored, encrypted in transit, on a server we operate at api.stubwise.app.

WhatStored where
Email & password (hashed)Our server only
Pay rate, shifts, schedule, paycheck checksYour device, and backed up to our server
Any of the above, anywhere elseNowhere — no third-party database, no data broker

Every connection between the app and our server uses HTTPS encryption, the same standard used for online banking, so data in transit can't be read by anyone intercepting it along the way.

04

Your account

Your account is what makes the backup possible — it's how the app knows which pay data belongs to you when you log in on a new or different phone. Signing up optionally lets you check a box to receive occasional product emails; leaving it unchecked means we'll never email you anything beyond what's strictly necessary to run your account (for example, a reply if you contact us for support).

You're always in control: log out at any time without losing anything (your backup stays intact and restores itself the next time you log in), or permanently delete your account from the Me tab, which erases your backup from our server immediately — see Section 8.

05

Notifications

If you turn on clock-in/clock-out reminders, Stubwise schedules those reminders using your phone's own notification system, based on the weekly schedule you entered. These are local notifications — generated and delivered entirely on your device. No schedule, reminder, or notification content is sent anywhere in order to make this work.

You can turn reminders off at any time from within the app, or disable Stubwise's notification permission entirely in your phone's system settings.

06

Sharing & third parties

We don't sell, rent, trade, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers — full stop. Stubwise does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting software development kit (SDK). There are no ad networks and no behavioral analytics inside this app.

Your data is stored on infrastructure we operate ourselves (a server we run, not a large third-party cloud data platform), and is accessed only by the Stubwise app you're signed into and, where legally required, by us as the operator of that server.

In plain English

The only parties who can ever see your pay data are you, and the server that backs it up for you. Nobody buys it, nobody sees ads because of it, and nobody profiles you with it.

07

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage and are never stored or logged in plain text. All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Our server is firewalled to accept connections only on the ports the app actually needs, and the database itself is not reachable from the public internet — only the app's own server process can query it.

No system is perfectly unbreakable, and we can't promise otherwise — but there is no advertising SDK, no analytics vendor, and no data broker anywhere in this app's supply chain to create an additional point of failure.

08

Retention & deletion

We keep your account and its backup for as long as your account exists, so it can restore your data on any phone you log in from. You're always in control of it:

  • Delete a single shift, rate, or paycheck check from inside the relevant screen, any time — this updates both your device and your backup.
  • Me → Reset all data on this device erases what's stored on this phone only. Your account and its backup are untouched, so logging back in restores everything.
  • Me → Delete my account permanently deletes your account, your password, and your entire backup from our server, immediately and irreversibly — then clears this device's local copy too. There is no way to recover a deleted account.
09

Children's privacy

Stubwise is intended for people old enough to be legally employed and paid on an hourly basis, and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

10

Not legal advice

Stubwise's overtime and minimum-wage calculations are built from federal and state wage-and-hour rules as understood at the time the app was built, and are meant as an alert, not a certified audit. This policy covers your privacy, not the accuracy of any specific calculation — but since the two questions tend to arrive together, it's worth repeating here: for a real dispute with an employer, talk to your state labor department or an employment attorney.

11

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and describe the change plainly, in this same document, before that version reaches you. We won't backdate a change or bury it in dense language you'd need a lawyer to unpack; that's the opposite of what this app is for.
